Gender Equality Plan (GEP) – Harran University

Harran University is strongly committed to promoting gender equality and ensuring equal opportunities for all members of its academic and administrative community. The University recognizes that achieving gender equality is not only a matter of fairness and human rights but also a key driver of innovation, quality education, and sustainable development.

In line with national legislation and the priorities of the European Research Area, Harran University has developed and is continuously improving its Gender Equality Plan (GEP). The plan aims to eliminate gender-based barriers, support women’s participation in all academic and leadership levels, and foster an inclusive institutional culture that values diversity and equal participation.

Key objectives of the GEP include:

  • Ensuring gender balance in decision-making and managerial positions;
  • Promoting gender-sensitive recruitment, retention, and career progression policies;
  • Supporting work-life balance and family-friendly institutional practices;
  • Integrating the gender dimension into research, teaching, and innovation activities.

Harran University actively encourages women’s representation in leadership and management positions, as well as their participation in research and governance processes. The University’s commitment to equality is reflected in the composition of its administrative and academic boards, and in the ongoing efforts to build awareness through training, seminars, and policy reviews.

Gender-disaggregated data are regularly collected and monitored to assess progress and ensure accountability in implementing the GEP actions. Harran University also collaborates with national and international partners to promote best practices and strengthen institutional capacity in the field of gender equality.

Through these actions, Harran University reaffirms its dedication to building an equitable, inclusive, and supportive academic environment for all
